So, My lovely girlfriend made us breakfast and she decided to make an açaí bowl. Honestly, I never heard of an Açaí bowl or had one up until today. I must say, not only was this meal tasteful. It was was low in calories, you receive your macronutrients for the day, a good mix of fiber and protein, making this meal filling and satisfying.
What is an Açaí?
Açaí is a berry that comes from an Açaí palm tree, found in the northern parts of South America. The Açaí is considered a superfood, a nutrient-rich food considered to be especially beneficial for health and well-being. The Açaí berry is high in fiber, calcium, vitamin A, and low in sugar. The Açaí berry is higher in antioxidants than other berries such as blueberries, strawberries, and cranberries.
An Açaí bowl is filled with other superfoods. Making this bowl high in protein, high in fiber, healthy fats, antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals. Although the Açaí bowl has a lot of health benefits, there’s also a flip side. A lot of the added ingredients in an Açaí bowl contain a lot of sugar. The carbohydrate sugar is why people put on unwanted weight. Their sugar consumption is too high, and there’s not enough daily activity being done to burn it off.
I wouldn’t advise you to eat this every day. Everything is done in moderation, but this is a good filling meal that you can try.
- 1 pack of Frozen acai
- -A half cup of milk (Give or take depending on desired consistency)
- -1 mango chopped (half for the blend, half for topping)
- -1 banana (same as above)
- -3 strawberries (same as above)
- -A half cup of blueberries (blend only)
- -tbsp flax or chia seeds
- – tbsp coconut
- -2 tbsp hemp protein
